Four thin columns, equidistant and
Bathed in the muted light of waning summer.
Twelve timber tables grate timorously
Beneath the weight of froth-like thought.
The pencils scuffle sonorously through the
Slender lines on the sheet, lodged under an elbow.
The ink leaks apologetically from the trusty ball-
Point, momentarily slick upon the scroll.
Big black letters in bold print, they rather
Dwarf the penned in answers beneath them.
They stand out like bruised skin, demanding the
Attention of your own weary face, bones protruding like sticks.
