On the day of the explosion…
He woke early
Shaved carefully
Breathed deeply
There’s something I can’t quite put my finger on
He said to the toaster, shaking his head.
Always the same in the morning mind muddled, head befuddled.
Better in the evenings yes Come right into my own at night I do.
Make a list yes little yellow post-its stuck to the fridge yes.
Enough to save your life
It was then that he noticed
There was no fridge.
Indeed there was no wall.
With his now unimpeded view
he gazed directly into the garden.
He saw everything
He woke early
Shaved carefully
Breathed deeply
There’s something I can’t quite put my finger on
He said to the toaster, shaking his head.
Always the same in the morning mind muddled, head befuddled.
Better in the evenings yes Come right into my own at night I do.
Make a list yes little yellow post-its stuck to the fridge yes.
Enough to save your life
It was then that he noticed
There was no fridge.
Indeed there was no wall.
With his now unimpeded view
he gazed directly into the garden.
He saw everything
In a new light, so to speak.
