Suspended
One to hide, one to embrace;
The great drayhorse and the winning mare.
Opposing aims of equal will contend,
Mind and heart at war are keeping pace.
Body drawn, tethered at each end;
Mighty forces tugging either way.
Joints screaming, muscles tearing,
Sinews singing, no one caring:
The torture of the soul that must pretend.
Eternity could happen in a day,
Frozen in a single touch or glance,
A word may spur the equine beasts of pain,
One word with untold meanings infinite.
All being suspended in uncertainty-
The truth is found in hesitation.
One to hide, one to embrace;
The great drayhorse and the winning mare.
Opposing aims of equal will contend,
Mind and heart at war are keeping pace.
Body drawn, tethered at each end;
